Community, 2024Corten steel ranging from 15cm - 3m I was commissioned by the Banyule Council to create a public artwork for the renewed Were Street Reserve. The metal leaves, based on eucalyptus leaves gathered at the site, have been placed in the garden beds and attached to some of the infrastructure. Each leaf is unique with its own whisper line that you can read in the midrib (the line that runs down the centre) of each leaf. | Cypher, 202420cm x 20cm hand dyed cotton thread on antique linen. Finalist, Biblio Art Prize, 2024 This piece was made in response to Kate Forsyth's book The Crimson Thread - a love story woven through the secrets and codes stitched between the characters living under the occupation during World War 2. | Whisper Waves, 2022120cm x 15cm, cotton thread on calico I asked people, In moments of anxiety and despair, what would you like to have whispered in your ear? and in response, I collected more than 160 whispers via online platforms. I voice-recorded each to create a sound wave and have been stitching those waves onto fabric. This work has been installed as an outdoor exhibition in Castlemaine comprising sixteen unique 1.2m whisper panels. There are plans to expand the exhibition with more panels in 2023. |

Co-creation, 202260cm x 30xm, calico Exploring posthumanism and practical applications of “making with” my immediate natural surroundings. Each piece of fabric was immersed in the garden for a period of six weeks as an experiment in understanding how I am connected and entangled with the more-than-human. | Walking and Talking, 2021230cm x 180cm, paper, cotton thread, plastic coating. Every day for a month I walked the same stretch of the Birrarung River at Yarra flats. I took photos and wrote reflective journals. The process of being so immersed in the space changed the way I looked at it. I noticed the small unique moments in time that I was the only one seeing. The idea was to create a piece that could prompt conversation while sitting at the table sharing a cup of tea. | Dye Lab, 2021Naturally dyed cotton thread on wooden pegs. Using leaves and flowers from plants collected with friends and family in my local area, I explored natural dyeing processes to add colour to the thread. I created a catalogue of colours that now form the pallet for many of my pieces. The 36 colours range in intensity and depth but are connected through the care and time invested in each. |
